When you first learn to walk through the tide pools
Your body is confused and shaking
Adult syndrome tells you
Injury is one step away
Wet rocks plastered with silken maroon algae
After you see the creatures move
A hermit crab below the clear water
Dancing on the dark red seaweed
The soft bodies of enenamoies sleeping
Their drooping form unbothered by low tide
You begin to watch your feet differently
Suddenly, All movement is intentional
You kiss the ground of pebbles and larger stones
To be kind to the life around you
No longer are you worried about slipping
As much of disrupting the home you visit
